The Town of San Pedro La Laguna, new Lake Atitlan in central Guatemala, suffered from severe plastic pollution. Tourism is the main source for the local economy. Money is brought in through environmental beauty, and since the was suffering, so was San Pedro.

In 2016 the Mayor, Mauricio Mendez,  banned single-use plastics.
In less than one year the town has reduced their plastic use by 80% and by 2018 tourism increased by 40%.

This project takes the example of a working solution from San Pedro and emphasizes how an American audience can learn from its success. It teaches people how to interact with their environment, both physically and digitally. It sparks connections with the viewer's community and inspires them to take action without any additional cost. The fast fashion industry is needlessly wasteful. Consumers are removed from the process and consequences of the waste produced by this industry. 60 to Slow focuses on the process and documentation of slow fashion and how beneficial it is to connect consumers to the manufacturing process. Slow fashion puts fair trade and fair pay into practice while also using ethical textiles and materials.

This project documents the deconstruction of fast fashion and the assembly of slow fashion products. These products are a t-shirt, jeans, and a tote bag, which are common fast fashion items. The book consolidates photo documentation and research.

Nobody did anything. When they did it was too late. The planet is gone and it is all their fault. The warning signs were all there, but I guess hindsight is 20/20. Now humans, whoever's left, can view their failure, along with everyone else, on a stupid "dead planet" tour. I guess they're just a bunch of has-beens. Their failure is on display for the entire galaxy. Trying to capitalize on this, they even built a gift shop. Disgusting. What could they possibly have left that anyone would want? They were a waste of life.

They really left their mark on this tiny little planet by completely obliterating it. Amidst all those natural disasters, the planet telling you in every way possible that it was dying, you ignored it. You were selfish, and in all honesty, you deserve it. Literately, what did they think was going to happen? They were never going to make it out alive. They destroyed everything and everyone.
